For the 2018 Round Britain Rally I visited 37 landmarks to score a total of 840 points for a silver award.
You'll see from the map that I concentrated on RBR landmarks to the south and west of Britain.
Apart from a few local (to Dorset) landmarks and two rides at the start and end of the RBR season, I didn't make any specific rides for the purpose of visiting RBR landmarks.
Most of the RBR landmarks were visited because they were in the vicinity of another ride I was doing, e.g. the Welsh National rally.
For my 'end-of-season' RBR ride I had planned to visit the RBR Midlands landmarks.
I had already amassed 680 points from the RBR landmarks I had visited.
The additional points gained from visiting the Midlands RBR landmarks would push me over 800 points which is what's needed for a silver award.
The plan was to do the Midlands RBR landmarks the last weekend in October, Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th October, and drop off my 2018 submission on Sunday on the way back to Dorset at the
'end-of-season at home day' held at the organiser's home at Lichfield.
Unfortunately I'm getting soft these days and Saturday's very cold, wet and windy weather deterred me. I ended up slipping my ride a day to Sunday and Monday, 28th and 29th October.
These days were also very cold days but it stayed mainly dry and the sun was out on Monday.
On Sunday, after visiting my last RBR landmark for the day, Derbyshire, I stayed overnight at the Ripley Premier Inn.
On Monday morning, the heavy frost didn't stop me from having a lovely ride across the Derbyshire moors to the Staffordshire RBR landmark.
The sun was out and the scenery was great but it was a tad icy in places!
